Charlie Parker (1920-1955) was an American jazz alto saxophonist, composer, and bandleader. He is considered one of the greatest jazz musicians of all time and one of the most important figures in the development of bebop. Parker was a technically proficient musician with an incredible creative ability. He developed a new style of saxophone playing that was faster, more complex, and more expressive than any that had come before. Parker was also a talented composer and wrote some of the most famous jazz songs of all time, including "Ornithology", "Ko-Ko", and "Now's the Time".

Parker died of heart failure at the age of 34. He is considered one of the greatest musicians of all time and his influence on jazz is still felt today.

Bao Long will be leading a band in a tribute session to Charlie Parker at Long Waits on Friday 1 Sep and Saturday 2 Sep. Music starts from 8.30pm.
